David Johnson, born in San Pedro, California received his Bachelors Degree in Music from the University of Redlands, California, where he studied with Louanne Fuchs.
First prize winner of the annual Redlands Bowl Competition, he pursued further studies with Earl Voorhies of Pasadena ,

Mr. Johnson gave a highly successful New York debut in 1980 - praised in The New York Times by Peter G. Davis - followed by recitals on both sides of the Atlantic, all to critical acclaim.

He has worked several years with Carola Grindea, founder of EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) in London, on musical interpretation as well as the importance of the coping and elimination of physical tension with regard to piano playing (Madame Grindea was instrumental in establishing ISSTIP - International Society for the Study of Tension in Performance).

In July, 2005, he was honored by being named East-coast representative for the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe (Alfred Brendel, pres.)

He has recently moved permanently to Athens, Greece, where he lives in Pagrati.
